Defective
A downloadable game
Defective is a roguelite RPG set in an underground cyberpunk world, starring an amnesiac android looking for a greater purpose in a broken society.
Having awoken with no memories of his past or purpose, our android protagonist sets out on a journey to discover what it means to be “alive”.
Along the way, they will uncover the truth about their mysterious origins, as well as confront the ominous Chip Sect Corporation (CSC), whose omnipresent control over society proves to be a force to be reckoned with.
- Our game focuses on card-game elements and resource management.
- A player has a predetermined set of starter abilities and “chips” (cards) that they use to reduce various enemy health stats down to 0, while keeping their own health above 0.
- They spend an energy resource to activate their abilities (which are categorized between Weapon, Armor and Equipment), while Chips are free to use but may only be used once each combat.
- Defeated enemies drop Scrap, which can either be used to upgrade the various chips in your deck, or to repair yourself. The player has decide which to prioritize, and these will be done at Work Stations that are located at specific points on the map.
CONTROLS:
- Use the Left Mouse Button to click the ground. The Player Character will move towards where the mouse has been clicked.
- Press and Hold The Right Mouse button to control and rotate the Camera.

IN COMBAT:
- When battling enemies, an enemy must first be targeted to allow the player to attack. Click the enemy to target them.
- The Wheel in the bottom corner represents the Player's currently equipped Gear. Left is for Armor (Shield), Right is for Weapon (Punch) and the bottom, is Equipment (Power Booster).
- Using Gear costs energy, but energy refreshes at the end of each turn. There are also chips that can be played to refresh Energy.
- The Player's Chip Deck automatically draws out once Combat has been initiated.
- The player has a set of 8 randomized Chips that they can use in battle (Max. of 4 per turn, and a max. of 8 for the whole encounter. Chips refresh between encounters, but not until the current encounter has ended)
- Chips are drawn in a random order during combat. They are categorized between "Attack, Defense and Skill"
- Right Click each chip to get a description of what that chip does
- Click "End Turn" once you have played all your desired chips and/or used your gear.
- The enemy will only attack once you have clicked "End Turn"
Strategize! At times it's best to figure out what your enemy will do before playing your hand.
- Once an enemy has been defeated, they will drop various gear and chips that the player can equip.
